One-to-One Discipleship
“Discipling is an intentional relationship in which we walk alongside other disciples in order to encourage, equip and challenge one another in love to grow toward maturity in Christ. This includes equipping the disciple to teach others as well.” (Greg Ogden)
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we are to make converts only. Jesus never commissioned us to do that, but rather in the Great Commission, commanded us to go and make disciples: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 So how do we do that at OEM? That is where One to One Discipleship comes in, the purpose of which is as follows: “Raising and releasing Kingdom workers by meeting, mentoring and multiplying another disciple.”
One to One is a 9-week course that you will do with a mentor. During your time together, you will look at the following topics: Assurance of salvation, attributes of God, the Bible (including Quiet Times), Prayer, Spirit-filled life, Fellowship, Witnessing, Temptation and Obedience.
To do the course, you first need to have completed the membership course at Onnuri (either through OEM or through the Korean ministry). Your English will need to be at an intermediate level.
To apply, please email Pastor Joel at discipleship@onnurienglish.org for an application form.
We are also looking for people to train as mentors! Please email Pastor Joel (joel@onnurienglish.org) to find out when the next training course is.
